Why SEO is Important
93% of online experiences start with a search engine and we are talking about Google:
There are estimated to be 4.5 billion active internet users and Google’s search engine share for desktop search is 87%
SEO is the process of optimising any given search word of term for a search engine on your site.
It is a like a 24 hours salesman for your company
What SEO does:
- Increases Traffic
- ROI
- Brand Awareness
- Builds Trust
- The competition is doing it
You can always rank on Google, even if you are a small company, but being in the top is everything.
Google detects your site your site automatically – although Google Search Console is good.
Factors you need to work on to improve your rankings:
- Page Speed: Your site needs to load fast
- Mobile User Experience: Your site needs to work well on mobile devices
- Topical Content: Fix thin content, explore fewer topics in greater depth, improve your Topical Authority in your niche
- URL Length: The longer your URL length the lower your rankings, keep your URLs short and to the point
- Content Length: The longer your content the better (eg it gets more social shares), but it needs to be high quality, not fluff
- Backlinks: Backlinks (getting other sites to link to you) are super important and have more of an impact on your rankings than on-page SEO
- Security: Your site needs to have an SSL certificate installed so your site is https:// – if you don’t have SSL, when people go to your site, they are more likely to get a warning.
